BC Khimki lands Carlos Delfino
A former Euroleague star is set to make his Eurocup debut, as BC Khimki has announced the arrival of shooting guard Carlos Delfino, who inked a three-year deal with the team. Delfino (199, 25) arrives from the Toronto Raptors, where he averaged 8.9 points and 4.5 rebounds in 87 NBA games last season, helping his team to make it to the playoffs. Delfino has been playing in the NBA for four seasons, helping the Detroit Pistons to make it to the NBA finals in 2005, as well as winning three consecutive Central Division titles from 2005 to 2007. Before that, Delfino had reached the 2004 Euroleague final with Skipper Fortitudo Bologna. Not only he averaged 12.3 points and 6 rebounds in 21 Euroleague games, but Delfino had 27 points on 5-for-7 triples in the semifinal against Montepaschi Siena. He has also played for Reggio Calabria in Italy, as well as for Union Colon and Olimpia Venado Tuerto in his native Argentina, where Delfino is a regular member of his national team. He helped Argentina to win the Olympic gold medal in Athens 2004 and also got a bronze medal at the World under-21 Championships in 2001. "I am happy to be part of Khimki," Delfino said. "I really wanted to return to Europe. Khimki is an ambitious club that will soon become one of the strongest in Europe. I will do my best to make it possible."
