Decision night lands 8 teams in new Eurocup!

Eight new qualifiers for the Eurocup regular season left no doubt about their deservedness while finishing the second qualifying round on Tuesday. Four of those survivors not only won two different qualifying rounds of two games each, but capped their runs on the road Tuesday. Among that quartet was BC FMP, a 57-69 winner at Ural Great in Russia to sweep their two-game series as Nemanja Protic and Dragan Labovic each had 19 points. FMP has now reached the second-highest European club competition for six consecutive seasons. ASK Riga also swept, winning at Cajasol in Spain 65-68 as Bruno Sundov dropped 19 points. Two other teams advances while losing, Unics Kazan by 76-73 at Hapoel Jerusalem and Panellinios by 96-72 at BC Kyiv, although both won the first-leg games by more. Although the Panellinios series came down to a three-point difference, the one with the closest consecutive scores saw STB Le Havre rally on the road to beat Base BC Oostende in Belgium 83-88 as Ronald Thompson tallied 19 points. Tuesday's home winners, meanwhile, were Buducnost, which throttled visiting Galatasaray Cafe Crown 93-62 with Vladimir Micov racking up 17 points. Red Star pulled away late to a 96-81 decision over Allianz Swans of Austria, breaking their first-game tie behind Tadija Dragicevic's 21 points. Finally, in a second consecutive blowout, Kalise Gran Canaria topped visiting Benetton Fribourg 103-61 as Joel Freelend posted 19 points. All eight series winners will now get ready for their Eurocup regular season, starting in less than two weeks, on November 24!
