Coach Sharon Drucker back in Oostende
Nov 02, 2008
Sharon Drucker will be on the sidelines for Base BC Oostende again this season after agreeing to return to the club that he coached for the past two seasons. Drucker and guard Devin Green joined the club over the weekend as Oostende looks to qualify for the Eurocup and to bounce back from a poor domestic start. Drucker, a former ULEB Cup winning head coach, led Oostende to the 2007 Belgian championship and to the Belgian Cup last season, but decided to leave over the summer. However with the club struggling early on in the domestic season and head coach Vlada Vukoicic leaving, Drucker agreed to return. He will reunite with chief assistant Umberto Badioli, who coached the club to its victory over BC Triumph in the first round of Eurocup qualifying. Only two players remain from the squad he coached last season – Veselin Petrovic and Sebastien Bellin – but Drucker has played a hand in the team’s recent signing of big man Nick Fazekas.
Green (200, 26) played in Italy last season for Teramo, where he averaged 10.6 points and 5.3 rebounds in 11 games. He has played in the Euroleague before, joining the Koln 99ers for five games in the 2006-07 season, during which he recorded 12.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.8 steals per game. Green has also played for the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA as well as the Los Angeles franchise of the NBDL since finishing his college career at Hampton University.
