Qualifying Round A, Game 1 preview: Galatasaray C. Crown - Buducnost
Galatasaray will open its Eurocup second qualifying round series against Buducnost at home hoping to take another step toward advancing far into the competition. Head coach Murat Ozyer's Turkish side reached the Final Eight of the ULEB Cup last season before losing to eventual winner DKV Joventut. Galatasaray got past Siauliai in the first round of qualifying by an aggregate total of 30 points. Ozyer's two veteran forwards have been key for Galatasaray. Power forward Dejan Milojevic averaged 16 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocked shots in the two games. And Milan Gurovic poured in 20 points in the decisive second game. Also playing a big role has been small forward Antonio Graves with 17.5 points and 4 assists. Galatasaray could run into trouble if the game is close as it made just 65% of its foul shots against Siauliai. Buducnost meanwhile is anxiously waiting to play in Europe after reaching the elimination round of the ULEB Cup for the first time in team history last season. Head coach Dejan Radonjic's Montenegrin champs started the season well in the Adriatic League led by rising star Vladimir Dasic. The power forward has led the way with 13.3 points and 6.1 rebounds while forward Marko Simonovic and Vladimir Micov are each averaging 11 points per game. Radonjic has a very deep squad with seven players scoring at least 7 points and playing at least 17 minutes per game. Playmaking forward Micov and point guard Nikola Otasevic have done an excellent job running the show for Radonjic. The key for Buducnost will likely be how much the 20-year-old Dasic can do against the crafty low post veterans of Galatasaray.
