Qualifying Round G, Game 2 report: Kalise Gran Canaria 103-61 Benetton Fribourg

Gran Canaria rounded a near-perfect two-way series by simply overwhelming Fribourg 103-61 at home on Tuesday. Gran Canaria advanced to regular season group E and is set to face Lietuvos Rytas, Asvel Basket and BC Azovmash. Meanwhile, Fribourg will play the 2008-09 FIBA EuroChallenge. Joel Freeland paced the winners with 19 points. Carl English added 16, Daniel Kickert had 15 while Melvin Sanders got 10 for Gran Canaria, that ourebounded Fribourg by 48-31. Dennis Harrison led Fribourg with 17 points. Bruce Fields added 12, Valentin Wegmann got 11 while Oliver Vogt had 10 for the guests, that needed a record-breaking comeback to overcome its 28-point deficit from the first leg in Switzerland. Sanders and Freeland shined early in a 17-4 run that allowed Gran Canaria to get a 27-15 lead after 10 minutes. Gran Canaria extended its margin to 52-29 at halftime and then again to 78-47 after 30 minutes, more than enough to seal the outcome.
