Regular season Week 5 MVP: Mire Chatman, Besiktas Cola Turka
Mire Chatman - Besiktas ColaTurka (Photo: bjk.com.tr)A classic player in Europe's second competition added more to his own legend in Eurocup regular season Week 5, as Mire Chatman of Besiktas Cola Turka not only helped his team to beat Benetton Basket Tamoil in Treviso, but also amassed a 41 performance index rating, not only the highest one for those players in winning teams - eligible for the weekly award - but the best overall. Chatman led Besiktas with 30 points and hit 13-for-16 free throws. He added 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 10 fouls drawn for a 41 index. Vladimir Veremeenko helped Unics Kazan to down Lukoil Academic with 22 points on 13-for-15 free throws, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks and 10 fouls drawn, good for a 36 index. Two other players in the Benetton - Besiktas game each registered a 29 index. Sandro Nicevic of Benetton had 19 points and 10 rebounds while Cevher Ozer of Besiktas shined with 27 points on 4-for-5 two-pointers and 5-for-6 triples. Marcelo Huertas of Fortitudo Bologna and Adam Hess of Artland Dragons, each with a 28 index, complete the top individual performances in this round. Again, Hess and Huertas took part in the same game, in which Artland downed Fortitudo 89-93.

Chatman was also the Week 5 top scorer with 30 points against Benetton. Chris Monroe of Chorale Roanne is the current Eurocup top scorer at 20.6 points per game. Raitis Grafs of ASK Riga and Timofey Mozgov of Khimki each pulled down 15 boards to lead the weekly standings. Bruno Sundov leads the rebounders table (11 rpg.) despite not playing this week - he left ASK Riga this weekend. Jeanneau was the only player to reach double digits in assists by dishing 10 in his team's pivotal home win against Lietuvos Rytas. Anthony Grundy of Panellinios is the assists leader at 5.3 per game. Dijon Thompson of Azovmash collected 6 steals against Kalise Gran Canaria, more than anyone this week. Ruben Douglas of Pamesa Valencia is first overall in steals at 3.2 per game. Dimitry Sokolov of Unics Kazan had 4 blocks in this round. His teammate Veremeenko and John Turek of PGE Turow tie atop the overall standings at 2 per game. As many as 10 players registered respectiuve double-doubles in this round. Only two of them - Veremeenko and Tariq Kirksay of Unics Kazan - were teammates.
