Game Center: Regular Season, Week 6
Decision time as regular season gives way to Last 16!
Eurocup fans, Week 6’s promise of high drama was served up big the last day of the regular season as seven new teams advanced to the Last 16. Hemofarm stole Group H's remaining Last 16 spot on the final play of its do-or-die game as teenager Milan Macvan lifted it to an 80-82 road win at CEZ Nymburk. Miljan Pavkovic paced the winner with 6 triples and 20 points. Maroussi and Zadar advanced from Group A as the former topped Chorale Roanne 72-83 behind 22 points and 13 boards from Loukas Mavrokefalides, while Zadar bounced ASK Riga 83-68 as Todor Gecevski buried 4 three-pointers. Ivan Radenovic scored 20 to help Panellinios progress from Group D after topping Turk Telekom 82-74. In Group E, Azovmash Mariupol trumped Asvel Basket 87-74 to win the group and Lietuvos Rytas grabbed second by besting Kalise Gran Canaria 74-64. Khalid El-Amin shined for Azovmash, hitting 7 of 11 three-pointers en route to 23 points, while Milko Bjelica recorded his first career double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds for to lead L. Rytas. The Artland Dragons claimed second place in Group G by beating FMP 73-62 as Darren Fenn produced 20 points. Khimki bested Benetton Treviso 80-71 to win Group C as Carlos Delfino netted a season-high 19 points, while Matt Walsh scored 17 as Spirou took Group F by topping PGE Turow 89-69. Unica Kazan, Pamesa Valencia and iurbentia Balbao all finished perfect regular seasons with wins. Week 6’s other winners were Dynamo Moscow, Besiktas Cola Turka, Bnei Hasharon and Red Star. The Last 16, four groups of four teams, begins on January 27!
