Eurocup Final Eight dates changed
Barcelona, January 15, 2009.
Euroleague Basketball on Wednesday announced a change of dates for the Eurocup Final Eight, which will now be held from April 2 to 5 in the former Olympics city of Turin, Italy, where the first champions of the new competition will be crowned. The venue of the event will be the 9,200-seat Palavela, the same arena at which the ULEB Cup Final Eight - the Eurocup's predecessor - was played successfully in spring of 2008. The Eurocup competition system will determine the Final Eight's participating teams through the Last 16 round of play, which begins on January 27 and ends March 10. The survivors will then meet in quarterfinals on Thursday, April 2 and Friday, April 3. The semifinalists will turn around and square off on Saturday, April 4 with the winners heading to the title game the next day. Euroleague Basketball again welcomes Turin Olympic Park as its partner in the event, promising Olympic-level hospitality for clubs, guests and fans throughout the weekend.
