The drama remains high in all four Last 16 groups after Tuesday’s eight games saw the competition reach the halfway point of the stage. Two teams – Dynamo Moscow and Benetton Treviso – could potentially advance to the Final Eight as early as in two weeks when the games resume after a one-week break. Dynamo improved to 3-0 while handing Maroussi Costa Coffee its first loss of this stage, 94-74, as Darjus Lavrinovic produced his best game in a Dynamo uniform. BC Khimki returned to the hunt from Group I with a 73-89 win at Panellinios thanks to Anton Ponkrashov’s 17 points off the bench. In Group H, Benetton kept its record unblemished by trouncing Turk Telekom 67-99 as Gary Neal and CJ Wallace combined for 45 points. Second place in that group is up for grabs after Zadar edged Unics Kazan 93-91 in head coach Zmago Sagadin’s debut. Telekom, Zadar and Kazan are now all 1-2. The most exciting game took place in Mariupol, Ukraine, where Azovmash bested previously unbeaten Pamesa Valencia 91-88 after two overtimes on Dijon Thompson’s buzzer-beating triple. In an All-Serbian clash, Hemofarm Stada dumped Crvena Zvezda 88-73. The four teams in Group K are alls eperated by one win. Lietuvos Rytas produced the biggest blowout by crushing Artland Dragons 105-66 as Chuck Eidson recorded 18 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. And iurbentia Bilbao downed Spirou Basket 59-79 on the road to create a three-way tie for first place in Group L along with L. Rytas. MORE
