Game Center: Last 16, Week 6
Hemofarm joins Final Eight, Bilbao and Benetton win groups
Hemofarm Stada claimed the last ticket to the Final Eight on Tuesday as the four quarterfinals matchups were set. Dynamo Moscow will face Hemofarm, Pamesa Valencia takes on BC Khimki, Benetton Basket gets Lietuvos Rytas and iurbentia Bilbao plays Zadar in the first games of the Final Eight, starting April 2 at the Palasport Olimpico in Turin, Italy. Although Hemofarm was the only team to advance Tuesday, first place in three other groups was decided, while Dynamo became the only team to finish the Last 16 undefeated.
Dynamo
bested BC Khimki 73-68 as Travis Hansen netted 21.
Panellinios
avoided being the only winless team as it beat Maroussi Costa Coffee 83-85.
Benetton
wrapped up Group J by routing Zadar 94-81. Gary Neal paced the winners with 24 and became the Last 16’s top scorer at 20.3 points per game.
Unics Kazan
dominated inside as it topped Turk Telekom 66-86 to seal third place in Group J.
Hemofarm Stada
edged Pamesa 66-62 – advancing to Turin, but failing to reach the margin needed to win the group. Miljan Pavkovic led the way with 18.
Azovmash Mariupol
handled Crvena Zvezda 72-95 as Simona Serapinas drilled 22 points, but it would not be enough when word reached of Hemofarm’s win.
iurbentia
bested L. Rytas for the top spot in Group L 67-59 thanks to 24 points and 14 rebounds from Marko Banic.
Spirou Basket
finished its season on a high note by beating Artland Dragons 88-79. Now the teams have three weeks to prepare for an intense weekend of basketball with the Eurocup title on the line in Turin!
