2009-10 Eurocup Regular Season Draw results
The 2009-10 Eurocup is ready to roll after the Regular Season Draw was celebrated on Friday in Barcelona, producing eight competitive groups that will head into action on November 24. This regular season's 32-team field includes four of the last seven champions from earlier this decade of Europe's second competition: DKV Joventut Badalona in Group D, Dynamo Moscow in Group F, Hapoel Jerusalem in Group C and Valencia Basket in Group B. Group A features Ukraine champion Azovmash, Group E the Belgian champion, Spirou, and Group H a pair of national champs, Ventspils of Latvia and Nymburk of Czech Republic. One more Qualifying Round game, Bilbao Basket vs. Donetsk on Tuesday, will decide which of those teams joins Group E.

Eurocup team representatives met today in Barcelona to celebrate the competition's 2009-10 Regular Season draw. Prior to the draw, the teams and the competition management met to discuss changes in the competition regulations and television rights distribution, which includes the continued partnership with Eurosport, whose broadcasts will reach 58 countries and 44 million households in 14 languages. During the meeting, team representatives confirmed the season calendar as well as a change in the final weekend structure, which will now have four qualified teams fighting for the title. This season's Eurocup champion will qualify directly to the 2009-10 Euroleague. This meeting was also an opportunity for Eurocup management to give an overview of the changes that have taken place in the Euroleague Basketball competition and how it affects Europe's second club competition.
