Katsikaris lands on Bilbao bench
Fotis Katsikaris Two days after he resigned the bench on one Eurocup regular season group winner, head coach Fotis Katsikaris will take up with another, specifically Bilbao Basket, the club announced on Friday. Until Wednesday, Katsikaris had been head coach of Aris BSA 2003, which he lead to the Last 16 with a 5-1 record in Group C. Bilbao did even better, finishing 6-0 as the only undefeated team of the regular season, however long-time head coach Txus Vidorreta left last weekend due to bad results in the Spanish League. Katsikaris had joined Aris in October after having spent a couple seasons in Spain at Pamesa Valencia, where he was let go the middle of last season. Katsikaris had taken Valencia to the ULEB Cup Final Eight in 2008. Due to their automatic placement in Last 16 groups and the pre-set competition format, Aris and Bilbao would not meet this season in the Eurocup until the semifinals.
