Opening night of the Last 16 proved how tough it will be to survive this competitions as more than half the eight games were won by road teams on Tuesday. The trend started with Crevna Zvezda stopping host Nymburk 60-65 in Group L as Mike Taylor poured in 19 oints and Unics besting Galatasaray in Group J four players - Kresimir Loncar, Marco Popovic, Maceij Lampe and Terrell Lyday - scoring 17 points each. The first home winner came in Group K, Panellinios over Brose Baskets 70-62 as Devin Smith scored 14. Three more road warriors struck next: Alba over Le Mans 63-68 in Group I behind 27 points from Julius Jenkins; Bilbao by 69-76 at Benetton in Group K thanks to 22 points from Janis Blums; and Hapoel by 75-79 at Valencia in Group J as Tre Simmons scored 17. The victory ended Valencia's 33-game home unbeaten streak in Europe's second competition, dating to 2004. A couple of late home winners balanced the scales: Joventut beat Aris 74-72 in Group I behind Uros Tripkovic's 13 points and Gran Canaria, which stopped Turk Telekom 73-65 in Group L as Sitapha Savane scored 15!
