Halfway through Last 16: Two teams perfect & a three-way tie for first!
Ian Vougioukas - Panellinios BC  (photo Panellinios BC)The Last 16 reached its halfway point on Tuesday of Week 3 with five teams winning on the road, including two that are undefeated and dominating their groups. Meanwhile five teams sharing the lead in the two other groups. Bizkaia Bilbao Basket blasted Brose Baskets 55-76 in Germany behind Elton Brown’s 22 points and 10 rebounds to improve to 3-0 in Group K and 9-0 on the season. Kostas Charalampidis and Manolis Papamakarios shined with 19 points apiece as Panellinios BC bested Benetton Basket 88-79 to keep that team winless and improve to 2-1 and second place in the group. In Group L, Crvena Zvezda is a perfect 3-0 after six players scored in double figures in a 67-89 rout of Turk Telekom. Gran Canaria 2014 got 22 from Jaycee Carroll as it defeated CEZ Basketball Nymburk to stay within one win of Crvena Zvezda. Both games in Group I were won by road teams. DKV Joventut trumped Le Mans 62-79 to join a first-place tie after Aris BSA 2003 downed previously undefeated Alba Berlin 61-65. Finally, Group J now has three teams tied at the top after Unics Kazan and Power Electronics Valencia won big to join Hapoel in first place. Unics bested Hapoel 78-71 as Marko Popovic scored 26. Nando De Colo scored 17 as Valencia beat Galatasaray Café Crown 78-82. The Last 16 returns after a one-week break for Week 4 on Tuesday, February 23.
