Last 16 Week 3 MVP: Matt Nielsen, Power Electronics Valencia
Matt Nielsen - Power Electronics Valencia (Photo Victor Sheremet, Bc Triumph)An outstanding performance in a winning effort was required for Matt Nielsen of Power Electronics Valencia to become the Last 16 Week 3 MVP in arguably one of the closest races for the honor all decade in European competition. Nielsen led Power Electronics Valencia to a pivotal 78-82 road win against Galatasaray Cafe Crown with 14 points. He added 9 rebounds, 6 assists, a steal, 2 blocks and 7 fouls drawn to get a 29 index. Four other players registered a 28 index in Week 2. The only one of those to do so in a winning effort was Kostas Charalampidis of Panellinios. Charalampidis had 19 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 9 fouls drawn in his team's home win against Benetton Gioco Digitale. Elton Brown of Brose Baskets had 22 points, 10 rebounds and 8 fouls drawn against Bizkaia Bilbao Basket, good for a 28 index. Evren Buker and Mike Wilkinson of Galatasaray also reached a 28 index. Buker had 25 points on 5-of-5 three-pointers, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Meanwhile, Wilkinson had 22 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 7 fouls drawn.

Individual highs: Marko Popovic of Unics, 26 points

Popovic was the Last 16 Week 3 top scorer with 26 points against Hapoel Jerusalem. Popovic left the game with a bleeding eye but returned to action in time to lead his team to an important win. Despite not playing this week due to a last-minute injury, Darius Washington of Galatasaray remains the Last 16's top scorer at 21 points per game. Popovic's Unics teammate Maciej Lampe led all rebounders by pulling down 13 against Hapoel this week. He is also the Last 16 best rebounder at 10 per night. Antoine Diot of Le Mans dished 8 assists to lead the weekly standings. Yuval Naimy of Hapoel leads this phase in assists at 6 per game. Another Unics player, Terrell Lyday, led this week in steals by collecting 5 against Hapoel and is also the Last 16 leader with 4 per game. Nielsen and Sitapha Savane of Gran Canaria 2014 had 2 blocks apiece in Last 16 Week 3. Jerome Moiso of Bilbao is first in blocks at 2 per night. Brown - 22 points, 10 rebounds - and Vladimir Veremeenko of Unics - 11 points, 10 rebounds - were the only players to register respective double-doubles in Last 16 Week 3.
