Last 16, mid-round review: Group I
Group I is arguably the most balanced of this season's Last 16. It's the only one in which every team has at least a victory; there have been four road winners in six games so far; every game has been decided by eight or fewer points:; and no team can qualify or be eliminated until at least Week 5. In other words, absolutely anything is possible in this group. Former competition champ DKV Joventut (2-1) has the best chance to reach the Quarterfinals, as it co-leads the group now and plays two of three remaining games at home. Meanwhile, Alba Berlin (2-1) comes off its first home loss to face the same team, Aris BSA 2003, in a pivotal Week 4 game. Aris (1-2) survived it's own do-or-die situation by winning in Berlin, so now a 2-0 record against Alba would put the 2006 Eurocup finalists in a great position to advance, especially since it plays at home in Week 5, too. Le Mans (1-2) has it toughest after having lost twice at home, so it will now need to steal a road win against either Joventut or Berlin to keep its Quarterfinal chances alive.
