Last 16, mid-round review: Group K
One of the first two opportunities for a Quarterfinals qualifier comes from Group K, which boasts the only undefeated team for the entire Eurocup season so far. Bizkaia Bilbao Basket (3-0) has aleady recorded two road wins, now has back-to-back home games and can reach the next round with a victory as soon as Week 4 against Brose Baskets (2-1). Bilbao will clinch first place if it wins both home games and Panellinios (2-1) loses at least once. If both take consecutive wins, however, Panellinios and Bilbao will fight for first place in Week 6 in Athens. Firste, Panellinios travels to Treviso to face winless Benetton Gioco Digitale (0-3). Another loss would mean elimination for Benetton. Brose just suffered its first Eurocup home loss this season and so might need to steal a road win to keep its chances alive. No matter what happens in Group K, it will be a testament to the strength of the pre-season Qualifying Round. Panellinios, Brose and Bilbao all made it to the Eurocup through the Qualifying Round, which guarantees at least one Quarterfinal team coming from that phase.
