Zenit has new point guard in Dowdell
Zenit St. Petersburg reinforced its backcourt for the next season with point guard Zabian Dowdell, club announced on Thursday. Dowdell (1.84 meters, 30 years old) arrives from Proximus Spirou Charleroi where he played four Eurocup games last season and posted 10.5 points, 4.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals. In the Belgium League action, he had 13.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 1.9 assists per contest. Last season was third in Eurocup for Dowdell, who made a debut in the competition with French side SLUC Nancy in 2007-08 season. He has also played nine Euroleague games during his career. So far in his career Dowdell has also played for Lietuvos Rytas in Lithuania, Gran Canaria and Unicaja Malaga in Spain, Anadolu Efes Istanbul in Turkey, Phoenix of the NBA, Tulsa of the D-League, Casale Monferrato in Italy and Enisey Krasnoyarsk in Russia. He helped Nancy win the French League title in 2008.
