Nizhny signs playmaker Maynor
Nizhny Novgorod found a new floor general in Eric Maynor, who penned a one-year deal with the Russian powerhouse on Thursday. Maynor (1.91 meters, 28 years old) arrives from Openjobmetis Varese, where he averaged 13.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 7.4 assists in 15 Italian League games last season. Maynor played in the NBA in the previous five seasons with as many teams - Utah, Oklahoma City, Portland, Washington and Philadelphia. He has also been a member of the USA national team at the 2007 Panamerican Games. Maynor played 290 NBA games, totalling 1,245 points and 806 assists. "Maynor is an experienced player with an excellent reputation. He has already played in Europe and did great in Italy," Nizhny head coach Ainars Bagatskis said. "We were looking for a basketball player who could do a little bit of everything - score, pass the ball and organize our offense. I am sure Eric will help us play smart on offense and will be an important player for us."
