Quarterfinal analysis: Power Electronics Valencia vs. Aris BSA 2003
Power Electronics Valencia
The two most accomplished teams in the quarterfinals will meet in a head-to-head duel for one ticket to the semis. Aris BSA 2003 has three continental crowns to its name and was a ULEB Cup finalist in 2006. Power Electronics Valencia was the original ULEB Cup champion in 2003 and has played in two more continental title games over the past dozen seasons. However their successes have been recent as well. Valencia is in the Eurocup Quarterfinals for the third season in a row, while Aris played in the Euroleague Top 16 just two years ago. And both clubs boast accomplished coaching stars, Neven Spahija of Valencia and David Blatt of Aris, who have each guided teams to a Euroleague Final Four. The series marks the first time these two teams have met since the 1999 Saporta Cup semifinals, when Valencia swept Aris, before falling to Benetton in its first European final.

Florent Pietrus brings heart and a fierce competitive spirit that combined with his great athleticism makes him a difference-maker in the paint. Now in his second season in Valencia, Pietrus is one of the oldest and most experienced players on the team. His superior defense and leadership are pillars of the clubs success, but Pietrus knows that it will all be for naught if they dont take the next step. It is very important to be in the position that we are in right now, Pietrus said, but if we don't achieve a demanding goal, all we have done so far will not have much value."

Demos Dikoudis is not only one of the most experienced players left in the Eurocup, but a large chunk of that experience came wearing the uniform of the team he will face in the Quarterfinals. The Aris big man spent three different campaigns in Valencia and knows that team well. But now his goal is to eliminate his former teammates as he tries to lead Aris to Eurocup glory. "We have to show our best face, Dikoudis said of the upcoming Quarterfinals. We have had some very good games in the Eurocup so far... Not only do we have to play well at home, but need a solid game on the road to qualify."
