Phil Ricci - CEZ Basketball Nymburk (Photo: basket-nymburk.cz)Though Phili Ricci joined CEZ Basketball Nymburk shortly before the season began and had to catch up to his teammates in a hurry, he soon developed into the clubs top interior force. Even as a sixth man, Ricci has been able to make a great impact on games at both ends of the floor. In the Quarterfinals, Nymburk faces its biggest challenge yet, but the big man promises to be up to the task. "If we play the way we have played, play good defense and do the things we are used to doing, we will have a chance," Ricci said of the series. "We know the kind of style and playing level we are getting into."

Nobody would have expected Nymburk to be playing this long, but you guys beat the expectations. In what condition does your team arrive to the Quarterfinals?

"Like you said, nobody expected us to be here but we knew we had a good team. We have been a very tough opponent all season long. In the beginning they looked to us as an easy team to defeat and we used that as an advantage. Now, I am sure Bilbao will not take us lightly. We have to come in and do our best and that way, I think we can win."

What is the most important thing to consider about your opponent, Bilbao?

"Again, if we play the way we have played, play good defense and do the things we are used to doing, we will have a chance. We have to play as hard as we can. I have played in Spain before and know what to expect. The guys on my team kind of know because they played against a Spanish team in Gran Canaria. We know the kind of style and playing level we are getting into."

These teams faced each other twice last season. Do you think it could have an impact on this series?

"For sure, both teams know each other a little bit and that is always important. I think it is a better opportunity for us."

Which Bilbao players are most important to keep an eye on in this series?

"I have played against Jerome Moiso and he is a very tough defensive player. I am looking forward to competing against Moiso."

What does your team have to do to overcome Bilbao?

"Pretty much, we have to play the defense that we played, hustle and stay together. That's how we have been winning. Our defense took us to where we are right now and we have to carry on playing that way."
