PAOK keeps Papadopoulos
Lazaros Papadopoulos - Fortitudo BolognaPAOK BC and center Lazaros Papadopoulos will stay together for one more season, as the club confirmed on Wednesday night. Papadopoulos (213, 30) returned last season in Greece after five years abroad and averaged 10.8 points, 7.5 boards and 2 assists in 22 games of the Greek League.

Papadopoulos, the president of the Greek Professional Basketball Players Association, was born in Krasnodar, Russia and came to Thessaloniki at the age of 10. He grew up with Athletic Club Stavropouli and in 1996 moved to Iraklis where he played until the 2000-01 season. Then he spent two seasons with Panathinaikos (2001-03), returned for one year to Iraklis (2003-04) and in summer 2004 left Greece to play for Dynamo Moscow (2004-07) in Russia, Real Madrid (2007-09) in Spain and Fortitudo Bologna (2009) in Italy.

As one of the most decorated Greek players, Papadopoulos won the 2002 Euroelague with Panathinaikos, the 2006 ULEB Cup with Dynamo Moscow and helped the Greek National Team to get the gold medal at the 2005 European Championships and the silver medal at the 2006 FIBA World Championships and the bronze medal at the 1998 European Junior’s Championships. In domestic competitions, he won the 2002-03 Greek National Championship and the 2002-03 Greek National Cup with Panathinaikos. He counts 103 cups with the Men’s Greek National Team.
