Spartak pegs Parker at point guard
Spartak St. Petersburg signed Smush Parker for the coming season, bringing the veteran guard back to Europe for the first time since the 2003-04 season. Parker (192, 29) arrives from Chinese club Guangdong Southern Tigers, whom he helped win the championship last season. Parker spent the 2003-04 season with Greek club Aris Thesaloniki, leading the team to the Greek Cup that season. He is a veteran of the NBA, having played a total of 274 games in parts of five seasons for Cleveland, Detroit, Phoenix, Miami and both Los Angeles franchises. His best season came in 2004-05, when he started all 82 games for the L.A. Lakers and averaged 11.5 points, 3.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Parker has also played in the NBDL for Florida and Rio Grande.
