Besiktas became the first team to survive the two-way Qualifying Round by downing Deutsche Bank Skyliners 84-76 in Game 2 in Istanbul, Turkey on Tuesday. Besiktas swept its series and is set to play its sixth consecutive Eurocup season. AJ Ogilvy paced the winners with 17 points on 6-of-7 two-pointers. Mire Chatman added 16, Bekir Yarangume had 13 while Cuneyt Erden got 12 for Besiktas, that outrebounded its opponents by 39-29. Ajene Moye led the Skyliners with 20 points. Jimmy McKinney added 17, Jermaine Bucknor had 14 while Pascal Roller got 12 for the guests, that trailed 38-29 at halftime. The Skyliners rallied in the third quarter and a rain of three-pointers allowed the guests to tie the series, 51-58, late in the third quarter. It didn't last long, however, as Chatman shined with 12 points in the fourth quarter. He got some help from Erden and Ogilvy to seal the outcome, 71-63, minutes before the final buzzer.

Michal Ignerski and a dominant Ogilvy stepped up early to give Besiktas an 8-4 lead. Chatman, Yarangume and Erden struck from downtown to boost the hosts' lead to 20-9. Roller nailed a jumper that Erden bettered with a huge buzzer-beating triple for a 23-11 score after 10 minutes. Bucknor tried to rescue the Skyliners with 5 unanswered points and a jumper by Wood got his team within 26-16. Cehver Ozer followed free throws with a dunk but McKinney brought the Skyliners even closer, 32-24. Ozer kept pacing Besiktas and got some help from Ignerski for a 38-29 halftime score - a 17-point lead in the series. The Skyliners improved their defense after the break and McKinney had 4 points in a 0-8 run that brought the guests back to life, 40-37. Olgivy stepped up for Besiktas and Erden nailed his third triple to boost Besiktas' lead to 48-40. It didn't last long, however, as Moye, Roller, Bucknor and Wood nailed respective three-pointers in a mamooth 3-18 run that tied the series, 51-58. A jumper by Yarangume fixed the score at 53-58 after 30 minutes. Chatman, Ogilvy and Ismail Cevik fueled a 10-0 run that gave Besiktas some fresh air, 61-58, with 6 minutes left. Chatman stayed on fire and a three-pointer by Erden sealed the outcome of the series, 71-63, with 3 minutes to go. The Skyliners kept trying but Besiktas had already sealed its ticket to the 2010-11 Eurocup!
