Buducnost pens top prospect Popovic to three-year deal
Buducnost VOLI Podgorica signed one of Montenegro’s top young talents, Petar Popovic, to a three-year deal on Friday. Popovic (1.92 meters, 19 years old) comes off a strong showing in which he led Montenegro to the title at the FIBA U20 European Championship Division B in Greece. He averaged 12.9 points and 2 assists and starred with 21 points and 3 steals in the gold-medal victory over Iceland. It was his second gold medal with Montenegro after topping the podium at the 2013 FIBA U18 European Championship Division B. Popovic started his career with Lovcen Cetinje before signing with Greek side Nea Kifissia in 2014. Popovic played there until he went on loan last season at Serbian side Mega Leks.
