2010-11 Team Focus: KK Hemofarm Stada
Despite its heartbreaking exit in the 2010-11 Turkish Airlines Euroleague Qualifying Rounds, Hemofarm Stada enters its seventh consecutive Eurocup season ready to match its best results - three semifinals appearances in 2004, 2005 and 2009. Hemofarm knows what it takes to reach really deep in the competition and relies on an experienced core of players that has been together for a while and is ready to deliver. Miljan Pavkovic offers know-how, clutch and high basketball IQ at point guard. Always ready to pull the trigger from downtown, Pavkovic is deadly from the foul line and never avoids responsabilities. His backup is Mustafa Abdul-Hamid, a more physical playmaker with good driving skills. Bojan Krstovic, who leads the Eurocup in games played at 81, is a great all-around player, able to shut down its opponent and score in many ways, with great shot selection and above-the-average driving skills. Hemofarm has several options at both wings, such as scoring ace Marko Sutalo or versatile forwards Milos Borisov and Boris Savovic. Borisov rebounds really well at both ends while Savovic has a great combination of size, mobility and ballhandling. Both Borisov and Savovic can see playing time at power forward if needed be. Former Eurocup Rising Star Milan Macvan is Hemofarm's very own superstar, as few big men at any level understand the game better than him. Smart, talented and determined, Macvan makes up for his lack of athleticism with intelligence, court sense, rebounding skills and impressing leadership. Milivoje Bozovic is a mobile big man with deep range while Jared Jordan can offer post skills, size and defense. Hemofarm has a nice combination of talent, experience and youth, as well as a clear leader on court in Macvan. If the team stays rock-solid at home, the sky could be the limit for Hemofarm in this Eurocup season.

Founded in 1946, Hemofarm became its main sponsor in 1992, paving the way for the club to achieve national success. Hemofarm reached what was then the Yugoslavian League in 1988 and it only took the team a couple of years to earn a Korac Cup spot. Hemofarm made it all the way to the Korac Cup finals in 2001 before losing against Unicaja. Domestic success followed with semifinal appearances in 2001 and 2002. Hemofarm reached new heights in 2003 by reaching the Serbia and Montenegro league finals and the cup title game. Hemofarm won its first-ever title in the 2004-05 season, the Adriatic League, knocking off Partizan in the final to lift the trophy. Led by Milenko Topic, Nebojsa Bogavac and Petar Popovic, the club reached the ULEB Cup semifinals that season, but even though it won the first leg by 23 points, Makedonikos managed to overcome the deficit and reach the final. Hemofarm returned to the ULEB Cup semifinals in 2005-06, but was knocked out on a last-second shot against Aris. Hemofarm also reached the Adriatic League semifinals and the Serbia and Montenegro Cup final. In 2006-07, Hemofarm lost to Unics in the ULEB Cup eighthfinals, but made it both to the Adriatic and Serbian League semifinals. The club reached three finals in 2007-08 – the Adriatic League, Serbian Cup and Serbian League – losing them all against rival Partizan. Meanwhile Akasvayu Girona stood in its way to the 2008 ULEB Cup Final Eight. With Stefan Markovic, Boban Marjanovic and 2008-09 Eurocup Rising Star award winner Milan Macvan as its main references, Hemofarm advanced to the Final Eight and upset mighty Dynamo Moscow to make it to the semifinals for the third time, though it lost there against eventual champ Lietuvos Rytas. Hemofarm comes off a season in which it took part in the Serbian League finals, the Serbian Cup semifinals and the Adriatic League Final Four, losing each time against Partizan. The club, however, suffered an unexpected early exit in the Eurocup, losing five regular season games by 7 points or less. With its experience and talented roster, Hemofarm will be ready to bounce back and do much better in the 2010-11 Eurocup.
