Besiktas lands superstar scorer Iverson
Besiktas Cola Turka has made the latest and biggest-ever splash in the Eurocup player market by signing legendary guard Allen Iverson to a two-year contract. Iverson (185, 35) is a former two-time MVP of the NBA and is considered among the best players his size ever in basketball. He was the NBA's leading scorer four times, an all-star 11 times and rookie of the year in 1997. He led Philadelphia to the 2001 NBA Finals, his only such appearance in a 14-year career in the competition. Throughout his NBA career, Iverson played for Philadelphia, Denver, Detroit and Memphis. He scored 24,368 points in 914 regular season games, was chosen to the All-NBA first team in 1999, 2001 and 2005, making it to the second team in 2000, 2002 and 2003. Iverson played 71 playoff games, scoring 2,111 points. He is one of the 20 players that have scored 60 points in a NBA game - which he did against the Orlando Magic on February 12, 2005. Iverson also won a bronze medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece with team USA.
