Fuenlabrada puts Cruz into backcourt
Montakit Fuenlabrada bolstered its backcourt for the upcoming 7DAYS EuroCup campaign with the addition of combo-guard Francisco Cruz, who penned a two-year deal, club announced on Monday. Cruz (1.92 meters, 26 years old) arrives from VEF Riga of Latvia, where he played his first season on European continent. A native of Mexico averaged 13.5 points, 5.2 assists and 2.4 rebounds in the VTB League action last season, shooting three-pointers with 40% accuracy. Cruz played college basketball in the United States at the University of Wyoming, after which he started his professional career in Mexico with Halcones Rojos de Veracruz and briefly with Pioneros de Quintana Roo-Cancun. He also had a stint with Ciclista Olimpico in Argentina before joining VEF last year. This summer he averaged 19 points, leading Mexico national team during the Olympic Qualifying Tournament. Now Cruz is set to make his EuroCup debut.
