Week 4 MVP: Primoz Brezec, Krasnye Krylia
A near-perfect performance in a winning effort on Tuesday lifted center Primoz Brezec of Krasnye Krylia to a performance index rating of 40 – the best of the Eurocup regular season so far - to become Week 4 MVP! Brezec led Krylia to a pivotal 83-98 road win over Anwil Wloclawek in Group H by scoring 25 points on 11-of-11 two-point and 3-of-4 free-throw shooting. He added 12 rebounds, an assist, a block and 5 fouls drawn to amass a 40 index rating. San Clancy of Hapoel Jerusalem and Mike Scott of BG Goettingen followed with index ratings of 36 each in their teams’ respective wins against CEZ Nymburk and Hemofarm Stada. Scott had 26 points on 6-of-7 two-pointers and 4-of-6 three-pointers, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 2 fouls drawn. Clancy led Hapoel with 24 points on 8-of-9 two-pointers and 8-of-8 free throws, 9 rebounds and 6 fouls drawn. Kristaps Janicenoks of VEF Riga (index 32) and Devin Smith of Benetton Basket Bwin (29) complete the top individual performances in Week 4.
Individual highs: Matt Walsh of Asvel Basket, fifth-ever triple double!
Janicenoks was this week's top scorer with 32 points his team's first-ever Eurocup win against Cajasol. He is also the competition's best scorer at 21 points per game. Matt Walsh of Asvel Basket led Week 4 in rebounds (14) and assists (11). He added 13 points to register the competitions fifth-ever triple double. Only Todor Stoykov, Elvir Ovcina, Pascal Perrier-David and Meir Tapiro managed to do the same since the competition started in 2002. After four weeks, Lazaros Papadopoulos of PAOK BC is the Eurocup's best rebounder (13 rpg.) and J.R. Bremer of Krylia ranks first in assists (8.3 apg.). Smith of Benetton, Ramel Curry of Azovmash and Gerald Green of Krylia each collected 6 steals, the most this week. Curry is also first overall at 3.5 per game. Green and Brian Randle of Hapoel each had 4 blocks in Week 4. Kaspars Berzins of VEF Riga ranks first in blocks at 2.25 per night. Papadopoulos, Brezec, Pancho Jasen of Asefa Estudiantes and obviously Walsh were the only players to record respective double-doubles this week.
