Fiat Turin lands coach Banchi
Fiat Turin started to get ready for its 7DAYS EuroCup debut next season by inking head coach Luca Banchi to a three-year deal on Thursday. Banchi, age 51, last coached EA7 Emporio Armani Milan in the 2014-15 season. He helped Milan win the Italian League title and reach the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague playoffs in the 2013-14 season. Banchi started his coaching career with Livorno and also worked for Trieste, Trapani and Jesi before becoming Montepaschi Siena's assistant coach from 2006 to 2012. He helped Siena reach the EuroLeague Final Four in 2008 and 2011, winning six consecutive Italian League titles. Banchi was promoted to Siena's head coach spot in the 2012-13 season, winning another Italian League title and making it to the Italian Cup final. "Coach Banchi does not need any presentations," Turin president Antonio Forni said. "His CV speaks by itself. We want to move on and achieve important goals."
