ratiopharm Ulm invested in its future by inking promising young playmaker Ismet Akpinar to a two-year deal, the club announced Wednesday. Akpinar (1.91 meters, 22 years old) has spent the last four season with ALBA Berlin, where he had a limited role. Over the years, however, Akpinar took part in 33 7DAYS EuroCup games and five Turkish Airlines EuroLeague showdowns. Last season, he averaged 3.6 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists in EuroCup action, and 4.4 points, 1.3 rebounds and an assist in the German League, where he was also voted as the league’s best young player. Akpinar has also played for Hamburg Tigers, Piraten Hamburg and Rist Wedel, all in his native Germany.
