ALBA Berlin announced a new agreement with guard Akeem Vargas, who re-signed his contract for two more years on Wednesday. Vargas (1.92 meters, 27 years old) averaged 2.7 points on 41.7% three-point shooting and 1.4 assists in 11 7DAYS EuroCup games with ALBA last season, his fourth with the German powerhouse. He started his career with Erdgas Ehingen Urspringschule and also played for two other German teams, Walter Tigers Tuebingen and Goettingen, as well as for Iowa Lakes in the United States. Vargas helped ALBA win two German Cup titles in 2014 and 2016 and has also been a member of the German national team. "ALBA is my club, I am very happy to stay in Berlin," Vargas said after the agreement. "When the offer came, I did not hesitate for a second. I look forward to working with our new head coach and will do everything I can to make sure that the coming season is more successful than the past one."
