Lietkabelis keeps Leonavicius at home
Lietkabelis Panevezys has kept an important piece of last year’s team for its return to the 7DAYS EuroCup by re-signing veteran guard Gintaras Leonavicius for another season, the club announced Tuesday. Leonavicius (1.94 meters, 33 years old) posted 7.3 points, with 2.4 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.3 assists in his and the club’s EuroCup debut last season. Now he returns for another go in the competition with his hometown club. Leonavicius started his pro career with Lietkabelis back in 2002 for one season and returned again in the 2010-11 season. In addition to three Lithuanian clubs he played for – Nevezis, Sakalai and Siauliai - he has also played for second-division teams San Severo of Italy and Huesca and Lugo in Spain.
