ALBA Berlin pens prospect Nikic to five-year deal

With a head coach well-known for developing top young talents, ALBA Berlin made a move for the future by signing center Kresimir Nikic to a five-year pact. Nikic (2.15 meters, 18 years old) arrives from Cibona Zagreb in Croatia, with which he earned a spot on the all-tournament team at the EUROLEAGUE BASKETBALL ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT Qualifying Tournament Coin in February. He posted 13.8 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.3 rebounds per game, led the event with 2.8 blocks and was third in performance index rating with 20.8 per game. Nikic has also been a regular on the Croatian junior national teams. He is expected to play both for ALBA’s lower-division team and under the watchful eye of Coach Aito Reneses Garcia for ALBA’s senior squad this season in Berlin.

‎ALBA sporting director Himar Ojeda said: "Many European top programs have sought out Kresimir Nikic, but with our overall package of promotion, support, infrastructure, coaching and integration into our professional program, we were able to convince him to come to ALBA. He has great talent that we will look to build on in the coming years to introduce him to the professional team."‎
