Dolomiti Energia Trento started to get ready for its 7DAYS EuroCup return next season by inking versatile forward to a one-year deal, the club announced Monday. Silins (2.03 meters, 23 years old) arrives from Telekom Baskets Bonn, where he averaged 7.4 points and 2.3 rebounds in 32 German League games last season. He started his career with Daugava Sporta Nams and Keizarmezs Riga of his native Latvia. Silins has also played for Stella Azzurra Roma and Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia, as well as being a member of the Latvian national team. He helped Latvia win a silver medal at the 2013 U20 European Championships, averaging 12 points and 8.9 rebounds in 9 games. Silins has played 20 EuroCup career games in two seasons with Reggio Emilia, averaging 5.2 points. "We are happy to have Ojars Silins with us, he is a player that adapts well to our system," Trento general manager Salvatore Trainotti said. "He gives us athleticism and versatility. Ojars is a young player who already has experience at a high level. We believe he can grow up as a player in Trento."
