Lietkabelis Panevezys bolstered its frontcourt by inking forward Zanis Peiners to a one-year deal, the club announced Saturday. Peiners (2.03 meters, 26 years old) arrives from PAOK Thessaloniki, where he averaged 11 points and 3.4 rebounds in 27 Greek League games last season. He started his career in his native Latvia, playing for Ezerzeme, ASK Kadeti Riga, ASK Juniors Riga and Latvijas Universitate, leading the 2012-13 Latvian League in scoring (21.1 ppg.) with that squad. Peiners has also played for MBC Mykolaiv of Ukraine and Ventspils of Latvia before joining PAOK last year. He has also been a member of the Latvian national team.
