Asvel Villeurbanne bolstered its frontcourt by inking power forward Justin Harper to a one-year deal, the club announced Wednesday. Harper (2.08 meters, 27 years old) arrives from Globalport Batang Pier, where he averaged 25.8 points and 11.5 rebounds in 4 Philippines Commisioner's Cup games last season. He started the 2016-17 season with Los Angeles of the D-League and also played for Philadelphia of the NBA before joining Globalport. Harper started his career with Strasbourg of France and also played for Orlando and Detroit of the NBA, Idaho of the D-League, Hapoel Tel Aviv of Israel and Sidigas Avellino of Italy. "I am very happy with his signing," Asvel coach J.D. Jackson said. "He is a stretch '4', as I like them, able to shoot from three-point range with high percentages, get rebounds and drive. It will allow me to have quite a few options, both on defense and offense."
