Quarterfinals Game 2 MVP: Bracey Wright, Cedevita

Game 2 of the Eurocup Quarterfinals will go down as a game to remember for Cedevita Zagreb guard Bracey Wright. Not only did he lead his team to victory and a Eurocup Finals berth, but Wright recorded his best game of the season, his first double-double in European competition and earned Quarterfinals Game 2 MVP honors. Wright starred in Cedevita’s 72-81 victory at Cedevita with 24 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. He was 6 of 8 on two-point shots and made 9 of 11 free throws en route to a performance index rating of 37. Unics Kazan big man Maciej Lampe recorded the second best index rating of the night as his team beat Pepsi Caserta 79-77 to sweep their Quarterfinals series. Lampe tallied 31 points and 16 rebounds in addition to 2 assists and a steal to make up a 35 index. Dwayne Anderson of BG Goettingen bid farewell to the Eurocup after a successful debut season for both player and club. Anderson scored 25 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and picked up 3 steals for an index rating of 34, but it was not enough for the Violets, who were eliminated with an 84-62 loss at Benetton Bwin. One of Benetton’s veteran stars, guard Massimo Bulleri, set an index rating of 31 in that game. Bulleri scored 15, dished 5 assists and picked up 6 steals. He also drew 10 fouls and was 8 for 9 from the free throw line. Rounding out the list of Quarterfinals Game 2 top performers were Jumaine Jones of Caserta and Quarterfinals Game 1 MVP Vladimir Veremeenko and Marko Popovic – both of Unics – all with performance index ratings of 21.
Individual highs: Massimo Bulleri of Benetton Bwin, 6 steals
Maciej Lampe of Unics Kazan’s monster game of 31 points and 16 rebounds made him the night’s top scorer and rebounder. However Lampe finished the Quarterfinals as the No. 3 scorer in the competition with 20 points per game. His teammate Vladimir Veremeenko and Pepsi Caserta power forward Jumaine Jones tied for the Quarterfinals scoring lead with 20.5 points per game. Lampe did rank as the Quarterfinals top rebounder with 12.5 boards per game. Benetton Bwin point guard Stefan Markovic set a Eurocup career-high with 10 assists in his team’s home win. Markovic was not only the best assister of the night, but his 8 assists per game led the Quarterfinals too. Markovic’s teammate Massimo Bulleri recorded a Eurocup career-best 6 steals to lead all players on Wednesday. His 3 steals per game in the Playoffs was also best in the competition. Zach Morley of Budivelnik rejected 3 shots in his team’s loss against Cajasol, which ranked top among all players in Quarterfinals Game 2. Morley finished second to BG Goettingen center Jason Boone’s 2 blocks per game in the Playoffs. Five different players shined with double-doubles in the last Eurocup game before the Finals: Lampe, Wright, Jumaine Jones (23 points, 10 rebounds, Andy Betts of Budivelnik (10 points, 10 rebounds) and Markovic (10 points, 10 assists).
