ALBA Berlin might have to start the 7DAYS EuroCup season without a sharpshooter at its disposal after newcomer Spencer Butterfield suffered an ankle injury in a preseason game. Butterfield, who signed this summer, went down during a loss against fellow EuroCup competitor Herbalife Gran Canaria Las Palmas, the former team of ALBA head coach Aito Garcia, on Tuesday. Further test revealed ligament damage to Butterfield's left ankle that is expected to keep him out of action for four to six weeks. ALBA is due to open its EuroCup season with a home game against Partizan NIS Belgrade on Wednesday, October 11. Butterfield arrived to ALBA from French side Nanterre, with whom he averaged 13.7 points on 52.9% three-point shooting and the FIBA Europe Cup. He wowed everyone when he made 11 of 13 three-pointers among 39 points in a quarterfinals game in that competition.
