ALBA's Giffey out a month with thumb injury
ALBA Berlin captain Niels Giffey is expected to miss the next four to five weeks due to a thumb injury, the club announced on Monday. Giffey (2.00 meters, 26 years old) got injured last Saturday during a practice session with the team, and it affected the ligaments of the thumb of his left hand. Giffey has averaged 8.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in almost 25 minutes per night over in four 7DAYS EuroCup games so far this season. If recovery progresses as expected, Giffey could probably be back to play the last four games of the EuroCup regular season. ALBA currently has a 3-1 record and holds second place in Group C.
