Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar reached the 2018 7DAYS EuroCup Finals in historic fashion on Friday by also breaking one competition record and tying another. With its semifinal series sweep of Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia by a 69-79 decision in Game 2 on the road, Lokomotiv became the first team in EuroCup history to win the first 20 games of the season while tying the competition's longest victory streak between seasons, as well.
In both cases, the records had already been in the hands of Lokomotiv. The club had won 19 consecutive games to open the 2014-15 season before losing in the second game of the quarterfinals. And since Lokomotiv had won its previous game before that streak, in the 2013 championship game, the cross-season streak of 20 wins in a row also belonged to the club.
Coach Sasa Obradovic's men will have a chance to continue rewriting the history books by adding to this season's unbeaten run in the 7DAYS EuroCup Finals, where they will face Darussafaka. The best-of-three finals series will tip off on Tuesday, April 10 with Lokomotiv hosting Game 1 in Krasnodar.
