Unicaja lands veteran guard Roberts
Unicaja Malaga fortified its backcourt by signing veteran guard Brian Roberts, who arrives from Olympiacos Piraeus. Roberts (1.88 meters, 32 years old) averaged 6.9 points on 43.2% three-point shooting over 32 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games in a reserve role last season. He made 96.5% of his free throw, which was the fifth-best single-season percentage in competition history. In his three EuroLeague campaigns – he first played for Brose Bamberg between 2010 and 2012 – Roberts has made 91.8% of his free throws, which is third best in the record books. He also played one EuroCup season with Brose and has suited up for Altshuler Shaham Galil Gilboa in Israel and New Orleans, Charlotte and Portland in the NBA. Roberts led Brose to three consecutive German League titles and back-to-back German Cup crowns from 2010 to 2012.
