Benetton Basket brings Goree back
Benetton Basket turned to the past to upgrade its frontcourt by signing Marcus Goree. Who enjoyed three of his finest seasons with the club between 2004 and 2007. Goree (2.03 meters, 34 years old) arrives from PAOK Thessaloniki, for whom he averaged 14.2 points and 4.6 rebounds in five Eurocup games and 12.1 points and 7.1 rebounds in 10 Greek League games this season. The former Euroleague champion, who was dubbed "Tiger" by the fans in Treviso, helped Benetton to the 2006 Italian League championship and the 2005 and 2007 Italian Cups in his previous stay with the club.
Goree is a well-travelled power forward who has played for some of the top clubs in Europe, including CSKA Moscow, with whom he won the 2008 Euroleague, and Maccabi Tel Aviv. In total he played 119 Euroleague games over six seasons and ranks fifth all-time in the competition in blocked shots (120) and 15th in rebounds (727). During an 11-season professional career, Goree has also suited up for Le Havre in France, Frankfurt Skyliners and New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig in Germany, Maccabi in Israel, Gran Canaria and Estudiantes in Spain, Benetton in Italy, and CSKA and Triumph Lyubertsy Moscow Region in Russia. He has also collected national championships in Israel and Russia.
