Last 16 Game 3 featured three road warriors, left as many undefeated teams and set the basis for a very interesting set of rematches next week, in which all teams will face the same opponents again. Valencia Basket downed CEZ Nymburk 71-80 in a clash of previously unbeaten squads in Group I. Nando De Colo scored 32 points, dished 5 assists and picked up 5 steals to pace the winners in a game that saw Valencia dominate early, Nymburk storm back and then the visitors pull away in the end. VEF Riga bested BCM Gravelines 78-61 for its first Last 16 win. Antanas Kavaliauskas scored 23 to pace the hosts, who took charge early with a 15-2 first-quarter run. BC Khimki trumped BC Donetsk 68-55 to take control of Group J. The win leaves head coach Rimas Kurtinaitis’s side undefeated so far this season. Kresmir Loncar and Vitaly Fridzon scored 17 points apiece to lead the winners. Aris BSA 2003 topped Asvel Basket 77-60 for its first victory of the Last 16. Ronald Davis scored 19 and Dan Mavraides 18 to lead the winning squad. Spartak St. Petersburg defeated Krka Novo Mesto 68-81 on the road to stay unbeaten in Group K. Loukas Mavrokefalides scored 20 points with just 2 missed shots and Yotam Halperin and Patrick Beverley combined for 13 assists to lead the victors. Banvit BK beat Buducnost Voli 68-61 to grab hold of second place in the group. Lance Williams scored 21 and Baris Ermis turned in a spectacular all-around performance with 9 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. In Group L, Benetton Basket edged Lokomotiv Kuban 70-71 on the road on Jobey Thomas’s game-winning three-pointer with 4 seconds left. Thomas led the winners with 22 points on 4-of- 8 shooting from downtown. The loss was the hosts’ first of the Last 16. Later Lietuvos Rytas outdueled Alba Berlin 86-75 to join Benetton and Lokomotiv in a three-way tie for first place with 2-1 records. While helped by clutch three-point shooting, the hosts did most of their damage in the paint by outrebounding Alba 38-19. Aleksandar Rasic led the winners with 16 points. Now the focus shirts to next week’s games, after which as many as four teams could celebrate berths in the Eurocup Quarterfinals!
