Lokomotiv Kuban takes Ilievski on loan
Lokomotiv Kuban has taken veteran playmaker Vlado Ilievski on loan from Turkish Airlines Euroleague side Anadolu Efes for the remainder of the season. Ilievski (1.88 meters, 32 years old) will be eligible to compete in the Eurocup from the next game against Benetton Basket. He played in all 10 Euroleague Regular Season games for Efes this season and averaged 2.7 points and 2.6 assists over 17 minutes. Lokomotiv becomes his first Eurocup side since he played the ULEB Cup with Virtus Roma in 2005-06. He averaged 9.9 points and 3.4 assists over 14 games that season in helping Roma to the quarterfinals.
The well-traveled Ilievski has competed for six Euroleague teams during his distinguished career. He has played for Union Olimpija in Slovenia, Partizan in Serbia, Antalyaspor Antbirlik in Turkey, FC Barcelona and Caja Laboral in Spain and Roma, Montepaschi Siena and Virtus Bologna in Italy. He helped Montepaschi to win the Italian League title and reach the Euroleague Final Four in 2008. Ilievski lifted the Spanish King's Cup trophy with Laboral and won the 2004 Spanish League with Barcelona. And he helped Olimpija win the Adriatic League and the Slovenian League titles in 2002, as well as four Slovenian Cup trophies in five seasons with the team. He is also a member of the FYROM national team.
