BC Triumph Lyubertsy Moscow Region returns to the Eurocup after a two-year absence off a really solid season in the Russian League. Led by scoring champion Davon Jefferson and talented youngsters Dmitry Kulagin and Sergey Karasev - coach by his father Vasily, an European basketball legend, Triumph was third in the Russian League regular season with a 12-6 record, reaching the semifinals and finishing fourth overall. The team also finished the Baltic League regular season tying for first place at 16-4 and made it to the EuroChallenge final four but Elan Chalon stood on its way in the semifinal. Previously being known as Dynamo Moscow Region, its new name and new management continued the winning tradition at the club, which had built a reputation as a rising power in recent seasons. Dynamo Moscow Region advanced to back-to-back FIBA Europe Cup final fours in 2004 and 2005, as players like Johnny Taylor and later Nikita Morgunov and Chuck Kornegay helped the club to respective fourth and third-place finishes. Back home the club became a regular in the Russian playoffs, though it never managed to climb past the quarterfinal stage. With new management also came a new head coach, Stanislav Eremin, and a host of stars, including Mire Chatman, Terrell Lyday, Ognjen Askrabic and Uros Slokar. Together Triumph was bound to succeed as it went undefeated at home in the ULEB Cup and won its regular season group. Triumph was upset, however, by Artland Dragons by a total of 4 points in the Last 32 round. Mighty CSKA Moscow stood in the way in the Russian Cup quarterfinals and then - despite finishing fourth in the regular season - Triumph fell in three games to Dynamo Moscow in the playoffs. Triumph reloaded before the start of the 2008-09 season with marquee signings such as Nenad Krstic, Marcus Goree or Alan Anderson, but the team could not survive the Eurocup Qualifying Rounds against Base BC Oostende. Triumph, however, overcame heavy financial problems to return to the Russian League playoffs and reach the Russian Cup title game, losing against Unics Kazan. Triumph also had a long run in the EuroChallenge, making it to the final four and finishing third. The club returned to the Eurocup in 2009-10 but did not go past the regular season. Triumph bounced back from an underwhelming 2010-11 season with its nice mix of top prospects and foreign talent which could pay off well, in the 2012-13 Eurocup, too.
