ASVEL lands Mindaugas Lukauskis
Mindaugas Lukauskis - Lietuvos RytasAsvel Basket keeps getting ready for its Euroleague return in the upcoming 2009-10 season by inking combo guard Mindaugas Lukauskis to a two-year deal. Lukauskis (198, 30) arrives from Lietuvos Rytas, where he played in each of the last six seasons. He averaged 9.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 15 Eurocup games last season, helping L. Rytas to win its second Eurocup title. Lukauskis also lifted the Baltic League, the Baltic Presidents' Cup, the Lithuanian League and the Lithuanian League trophies in a one-of-a-kind season for L. Rytas. In six seasons with L. Rytas, Lukauskis also won a Lithunian League, two Baltic Leagues and a ULEB Cup title. Lukauskis is also a member of the Lithuanian national team, to which he helped to make it to the 2008 Olympic semifinals. He buried the game-winning triple in the Lithuanian Cup title game against Zalgiris, in which he earned MVP honors. Lukauskis has also played for Alita Alytus, Sakalai and Kanlapilis Panevezys in his native Lithuania.
