MONTEPASCHI lands David Hawkins
Montepaschi Siena announced on Friday the addition of shooting guard David Hawkins (193, 27) for the next season. The Italian champion also has an option to extend the deal through 2011. Hawkins arrives from another Italian team, AJ Milano, where last year he averaged 13. 8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 16 Euroleague appearances as the team advanced to the Top 16. Hawkins started his career at Temple University, where he played until 2004, always averaging scores in the double digits. After that, he moved to Italy to play in the second division with Rieti, and after great performances, midway through the season he moved to the Italian capital to join Lottomatica Roma. He played there for three seasons until 2007-08, when the team reached the Italian finals, losing to Montepaschi. In 2006, Hawkins was elected MVP of the Italian Cup despite his team's loss to Napoli.
