EFES PILSEN brings Cenk Akyol home
Scola and Akyol - Tau Ceramica, Efes PilsenEfes Pilsen signed former player Cenk Akyol to a two-year contract over the weekend, reuniting the small forward with his boyhood club. Akyol (197, 23) grew up with Efes, making his Euroleague debut as a 17-year-old on opening night of the 2004-05 season. He played for Efes Pilsen every season through 2009, spare the 2007-08 campaign when he was on loan to Galatasaray Café Crown. Last year Akyol moved to Italy and played for Air Avellino, where he averaged 11.8 points per game. Akyol, who has represented Turkey at the 2005 and 2007 European Championships and at the 2006 World Championships, is on the preliminary squad for this summer’s World Championships taking place in Turkey.
