CSKA MOSCOW keeps Kurbanov
Euroleague powerhouse CSKA Moscow has reach a new agreement with versatile forward Nikita Kurbanov to keep him on the team until the end of the 2011-12 season. CSKA has an option to extend the deal for one more season. Kurbanov (202, 23) has belonged to the club since the start of his career, even when he has been sent on loan to Spartak St. Petersburg, Unics or Lokomotiv Rostov since he first joined CSKA's first team back in 2004. Kurbanov helped CSKA to win the Euroleague title in 2006, the club's first in 35 years, and reached the final in 2007. Last season, Kurbanov averaged 1.2 points and 1.2 rebounds in 17 Euroleague games. He helped CSKA to win the Russian League and the VTB League titles and reach the Final Four for the eighth consecutive season. Kurbanov is also a member of the Russian national team. Kurbanov helped Russia to win the European under-20 Championships in 2005. "I am very glad to stay with the team that I have considered my home for a long time. It is a great pleasure to play at the highest level with excellent players, my great friends, and fight to win every tournament" Kurbanov said. "It is interesting to work for coach Dusko Vujosevic, who has a reputation for findind out all the aspects in his players' skills. I am sure I can take a step forward as a player in the near future and I promise to do my best for that."
